14th and Chestnut Community Center

The 14th & Chestnut Community Center is a faith-based non-profit organization that is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children in our Terre Haute community. The center runs an after school program and other various programs throughout the year in order to ensure that these children have what they need to thrive. They also provide a food pantry that is open to the community. For more information about the center and their ministries, head to http://14thandchestnut.weebly.com.

14th & Chestnut Community Center

Who?

In a community where poverty, food insecurity, drug abuse and crime are higher than most of the rest of Indiana, The 14th and Chestnut Community Center is providing a ministry to their neighborhood to assist with a variety of spiritual, physical, and educational needs.

Why do we support them?

THFBC supports the Center as they reach out to their surrounding neighborhoods in the heart of downtown Terre Haute.

How do we support them?

THFBC has supported the 14th and Chestnut Community Center for many years!  Our volunteers have helped in the kitchen to provide the after school dinners and special large holiday meals. We have helped pack lunches for summer fieldtrips and provided transportation for the trips. Volunteers have provided tutoring, story time reading, odd-job maintenance, and food pantry help. We have collected money for food pantry items such as fresh milk, plus special needs such as kitchen and roof repairs. Collections have been taken for back to school clothes, backpacks and supplies, cold weather items and food items.  At Christmas, THFBC has purchased toys and clothing, plus food for the 100+ Holiday Food Baskets given out each year.  We have also provided “Christmas” (wrapped gifts of toys, clothing, etc.) to entire families that would not have been able to provide for themselves.
