At First Baptist, we believe that it is in our relationships with each other that we best experience the love of Christ on a daily basis. Our hope is that everyone in our church family finds a place to connect with other people who are equally committed to growing in Christ through worship, study, fellowship, and mission. We also value each person's unique gifts and understand that not everyone has the same talents, passions, and personalities. As a result, we offer a wide variety of opportunities for people of all ages, talents, and needs to find a place not only where they can connect, but share their gifts with others to the glory of God.
Worship is at the heart of everything we do here at First Baptist. In worship, we not only celebrate God and what he has done in us and through us in the week prior, but we also find purpose and energy for the week ahead. In the understanding that there are many styles and manners in which to worship God, we have our own traditions and practices, but we also seek to be inclusive and willing to adapt in order to proclaim the Gospel in ways that can speak to all generations. In that quest, we have two primary worship services:
Sunday mornings at 9:30AM - Our morning service is more traditional in nature, but includes contemporary elements as well. If you join us on a Sunday morning, you will see people dressed across the whole spectrum - suits and ties to jeans and t-shirts. You will participate in music led by our organ, piano, and other instruments on occasion. On most Sundays, it will be Pastor Bernie sharing a message out of scripture, but we do typically swap who is teaching on every 3rd Sunday of the month.
Sunday evenings at 6:00PM - The Link, our evening service, is less formal and more contemporary in nature than our morning service. Instead of gathering in the sanctuary and sitting in pews, we gather in our fellowship hall around tables so that we have opportunity and flexibility to worship in different ways. If you join us on a Sunday evening, you will mostly see people dressed casually and in whatever they find comfortable. You will participate in music led by our worship band consisting of guitars, keyboard, drums, bass, and vocalists. On most Sundays, it will be Pastor John sharing a message out of scripture, but we do typically swap who is teaching on the 3rd Sunday of the month.
Our Connection Groups exist to promote the development of significant Christian Relationships centered around the study of God's Word and service to God's world around us.
Each week, we take time to share what is happening in each other's lives, which we see as vital to true, healthy relationships.
Each week, we study a portion of God's Word together with the goal of learning how to apply and live out our Christian beliefs in our day to day experiences and relationships.
Each week, we learn how to take care of each other as Christ has commanded. This care takes on many forms - praying, listening, meeting needs, encouraging, and even challenging one another as needed.
We provide childcare and programming for children preschool age and younger during our 9:30AM worship service. Children in grades K-3 participate in a Children's Story during the worship service and then head back to Children's Church for the remainder of the worship time.
Sunday school classes for preschool age children through seniors in high school are available at 10:45AM.
On Sunday nights, childcare is available for preschool age children and younger. Our elementary age children can participate in a children's choir or join us for the Link Worship service. Jr. High and High School students are invited to participate in our Youth Praise Team prior to the Link service and join us for worship at 6:00PM.
On Wednesday evenings, children K-5 can join our Bible Seekers group for Bible Study and fun from 6:30 - 7:30PM.
Youth gather from 5:30 - 7:30 for dinner, fun, and small group Bible Study.
The purpose of our Music Ministry is to use music and song to provide an environment for people to glorify God and experience life transformation. Every week, we come together here to enter into God's divine presence through thanksgiving, praise and worship.
Accomplishing this requires a large group of people who use their gifts and talents to serve God and minister to the hearts of His people. We would love to have you get involved. If you play an instrument, sing, or have any other musical talents, we invite you to consider joining our worship family. Our Tech Team is always looking for sound techs, computer operators, camera operators, and more. If you are interested in being a part of our team, please contact us today!
